A recent problem solving lesson in the Year 6 classroom led to a fantastic opportunity for the pupils involved to talk maths! Not so amazing you may be thinking? Well, being able to explain strategies and thinking clearly, listening to alternative methods from others and then comparing how effective each one proves to be, is practising maths of a higher order and demonstrates understanding at a deeper level. These children were brilliant at listening and at forming a balanced argument for their ideas and they are clearly well on the way to becoming maths masters!
